A great cedar has fallen
Northwest icon Harvey Manning passed away this weekend at 81 years. Without Harvey, those of us who set out in wool socks, nylon backpacks, and freeze-dried food would not have trees to walk under or icy glacial lakes to dip in. The bears and the fox and the fat bushes of blueberries would have disintegrated under the greedy eyes of loggers and developers years ago. It takes a crotchety old soul like Harvey to move mountains, but he only moved them as far as our backdoor. Thank you for all your did for the woods, Harvey. Rest in peace.
